Ephemera is an expansive term when considering everything an artist or gallery produces to promote their art or an exhibition. Exhibition posters, catalogues, and postcards are common examples. Ephemera also exists as art in and of itself, serving as a piece of artwork on its own merits. Ephemeral art encompasses all mediums, including performance art.
UND Art Collections owns a rich collection of artist and gallery ephemera, with objects representing a wide array of purpose. This collection includes artist and gallery postcards as promotion, postcards as art, postcards as memorabilia, along with exhibition posters and other objects, providing much to study and learn through each object and its history.
