Artist Bio
Colette Gueden was born in Indochina in 1905. She studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Etienne and graduated in 1926. Gueden is best known for her work as a designer at Primavera, a studio from the Printemps furniture and decor chain in France, from 1927 to 1972. During the time period of the 1930's she created wooden "tabletterie" or wooden tableware that followed the themes of the monuments of Paris and the coast of France. Later on in the 1940's she created the series Saint-Leu-la-Foret which is a collection of female faces and busts decorated with shells and gentle wavy hair. Gueden's design influences can be seen on the 25 Anniversaire de Primavéra booklet pictured above.
