Artwork from the JSP Estate/Private Collection
In 2010 the University of North Dakota acquired a large collection of artwork from the estate of James Smith Pierce, an accomplished art historian and collector. Included in this collection are several works of art that span many centuries, and include several prominent artists such as Matisse, Kandinsky, Hogarth, and more. Several works by outsider/folk artists and contemporary artists are included as well as the occasional found object.
