Artist Bio
Adriaen van Ostade was a prolific Dutch painter born in 1610 in Haarlem, Netherlands. Van Ostade studied under Fran Hals with Adriaen Brouwer in about 1627. He is best known by his paintings and etchings that portray scenes of peasant life, small villages, farm and family life. Works by Adriaen van Ostade can be found in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rijksmuseum and several others internationally.
