Abstract

University of North Dakota's Multicultural Student Services will host a conversation with Terri "Detroit" Hughes, who was featured in recent Hollywood films such as The Soloist and Lost Angels. The conversation is set for noon Wednesday, April 3, at the Era Bell Thompson Multicultural Center.

At the event, she will tell the story of her journey from Skid Row to the movie screen. In the films, Hughes describes her struggle with mental illness and the impact it has had on her personal life leading her to a crack cocaine addiction that put her on Skid Row.

A short version of the film will be shown, and light Asian food will be served, followed by the conversation with Hughes.

The event is expected to run from noon to 1p.m. All are welcome and the event is free.

For more information about this event, call the UND Multicultural Student Center at 701.777.4259.
