Abstract
The University of North Dakota Department of Music will hold a free student showcase recital at 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, in the Hughes Fine Art Josephine Campbell Recital Hall.
Students in the UND Department of Music normally perform monthly with daytime recitals that are free and open to the public, but this evening performance takes into consideration peoples' work schedules.
"By having the event in the evening, we sincerely hope we can attract music lovers from the community that might not otherwise attend," says Royce Blackburn, associate professor in the department of music.
The spring 2013 recital will include: The student string quartet, the student piano trio and the trumpet ensemble. Individual performers are Emily Larson-piano, Cory Driscoll-trumpet, Austin Soderstrom-cello, Angela Loff-soprano and Donna Helmich-soprano.
Keeping the event free allows the department and student performers to say "thank you" to the Grand Forks community for all of their support.
"This is a great event for people who have never attended a recital before—kids who might be interested in music, adults, anyone who wants to hear excellent performances by some of our very best students," Blackburn said.
Parking is available in the Hughes Fine Arts Center lot, south of the Chester Fritz Auditorium on University Avenue.
