Professor Grijalva Presents at National Tribal Environmental Conference

Abstract

For the second consecutive year, the U.S. EPA’s American Indian Environmental Office invited Professor Grijalva to conduct a four-hour workshop at the nation’s primary tribal environmental law conference. This year’s Tribal Lands and Environment Forum was hosted by the Mohegan Tribe in its amazing Mohegan Sun Resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. Participants included representatives from tribal governments, federal agencies, tribal grassroots organizations, and other non-governmental organizations. Professor Grijalva’s workshop, Strengthening Tribal Self-Determination and Self-Governance by Administering Environmental Protection Programs,explored the historical development of EPA’s Indian Program, and significant recent initiatives reflecting EPA’s continuing commitment to achieving comprehensive environmental protection of Indian country.
