Additional Information
Prairie Surrealism:
In Dronescape, Adam Kemp transforms the familiar North Dakota landscape into a vision of possibility. An oversized crimson sun and unmanned aircraft suspended above geometric fields blue the boundaries between observation and imagination, suggesting the prairie as both enduring landscape and evolving frontier. Rather than documenting place, Kemp reimagines it through the lens of innovation and discovery.
The work also reflects the University of North Dakota's leadership in Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) research, where advances in autonomous flight, remote sensing, and beyond-visual-line-of-sight operations are reshaping agriculture, environmental monitoring, and rural infrastructure. Dronescape positions the prairie as both muse and laboratory, where technological innovation remains grounded in the landscapes that inspire it.$
