This collection of art was commissioned and curated in 2026 for the Division of Research & Economic Development, through the lens of the curatorial theme, “Prairie Surrealism”. Featuring a diverse body of regional and national artists, this concept embraces the iconic landscape and other unmistakable attributes of North Dakota, using surrealism as a metaphor for thinking beyond what we consider real and possible, in the space where research and creativity exist. A spirit of inquiry and desire to better understand the world around us are illustrated wonderfully in this legacy collection, creating a visual representation of what happens when dreams meet reality.
This collection was generously funded by the VP of Research & Economic Development and curated and installed by UND Art Collections.
