Additional Information
Picasso experimented with a wide range of styles during his long career. This print, completed when he was nearly ninety years old, hearkens back to the cubist style he pioneered in the early twentieth century. The fractured and distorted faces evoke the African masks that had influenced his rejection of Western standards of beauty in favor of a radical, uninhibited mode of expression.
