Abstract

Oral history interview with Brownell Cole of the 31st Infantry Division, U.S. Army, during the Second World War. Haas was captured by the Japanese army in the Philippines in April 1942 and was imprisoned at prisoner of war camps in both there and in Japan. He survived the infamous Bataan Death March was liberated following the surrender of Japan in August 1945.

Brownell H. Cole was born on 27 July 1916 in Lisbon, North Dakota, and died on 30 July 2009 in Everett, Washington.
