Agnes Selario Carlson

Naturalized in 2009

Photographic portrait documenting Agnes Carlson's participation in the Constitution Day Project.

The Philippine Flag - The flag of the Philippines is rich in symbolism and national pride. The flag is rectangular and divided into two horizontal bands: blue on the top, which represents peace, truth, and justice, and red on the bottom, which represents patriotism and valor. On the left side, when displayed horizontally, the white triangle symbolizes equality and fraternity. It is important to note that the flag should not be inverted or upside down (where red is at the bottom) because that represents civil war. The inside of the white triangle is a yellow sun with eight rays – each representing the first eight provinces that revolted against Spanish rule, and the three yellow stars placed in each corner of the white triangle represent the three main regions in the country: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
