Artist Bio
Anna Bulkina (b. Luhansk, Ukraine) is a contemporary Ukrainian painter who lives and works in Lviv. She trained at the art school in Luhansk (1988–1992) and then at the National Academy of Arts in Lviv (1993–1999). Her painting has been described as "the approach of light to the body."
Additional Information
An oil painting depicting a subtropical ficus in the rain with a woman and her dog in the background, based on a plant on the artist's windowsill. It is painted in an impasto ("pasty") technique in a single layer. The work is consistent with Bulkina's interest in soft light and luminous color, and is signed in the lower right corner.
