Aliana Au is a Chinese-Canadian artist who has been exhibiting her work in Manitoba since the 1970s. Much of her work uses abstracted strokes to create whimsical, surrealist scenes.

In this piece Au utilizes patterned brush strokes that imply movement. A vase of blue and orange flowers placed next to fruit, sits next to a window It is reminiscent of Van Gogh’s work in the late 19th century.
