Artist Bio

Bickey Bender received her BS in Art Education from UND and has done additional studies at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. Bender has taught art in Bismarck and in the Fargo Public and Catholic Elementary Schools. Bender originally grew up in Medberry, North Dakota, but now lives in Park Rapids, Minnesota, where she continues to create art. Her primary focus in art is nature and the rural settings of her childhood in the Midwest. She works mostly with handmade paper, watercolor, and acrylics, and often incorporates leaves, bark, feathers, and other natural objects into her artwork.
