An alumna of Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College, Dr. Baker-Demaray also holds three degrees from the University of North Dakota. In October, 2014, the Board of regents appointed Dr. Baker-Demaray the seventh President of Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College. She has previously served the college as Vice President for Student Services, and was Director of the National resource Center on Native American Aging at UND from 2009-2013.

From student to president, Dr. Baker-Demaray completed the circle when the late Alyce Spotted Bear, former Vice President of Indian Studies at Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College, invited her to consider returning to her alma mater in the capacity of Dean of Students. Baker-Demaray returned home to the Fort Berthold Reservation saying it "was one of the best decisions I've ever made."
