Abstract

The University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble, under the direction of UND’s James Popejoy, will present a spring concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 23, at the Chester Fritz Auditorium.

The Ensemble will be joined by the Grand Cities Children’s Choir, directed by Becky Mercer and Melanie Popejoy, as well as guest vocal soloist Anne Christopherson.

Tickets will available at the door, costing $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $12 per family.

The Wind Ensemble will perform Nicholai Rimsky-Korsakov’s classic "Procession of the Nobles," "And A Time" by Jeff Jordan, and music from the film score "The Cowboys" by John Williams.

The Primo Voce ensemble of the Grand Cities Children’s Choir will be featured singing "All Good Gifts" by Stephen Schwartz, and Rollo Dilworth’s "I Sing Because I’m Happy."

The two ensembles will combine to present a new work by famed composer Johan de Meij, Symphony No. 4 (Symphony of Songs). In this song, the Children’s Choir and wind orchestra will also feature UND Associate Professor of Voice Anne Christopherson as soloist.
