Trial Team has Success at Midwest Regional Competition

Abstract

The University of North Dakota School of Law Trial Team recently competed at the Midwest Regional Trial Team Competition in Omaha, NE.

Team G, comprised of second-year students Jeffrey Strom, Karlei Neufeld, and James Grossman, finished sixth of twenty-four teams. The team advanced to the semi-final round and faced a very strong team of third-year law students from the University of Minnesota School of Law. Minnesota came out on top in the round and went on to win in the final round and earned a spot to nationals. The round was very close and team G was complemented on their extensive knowledge of the rules of evidence.

Team GG included third-year student Quinn Hochhalter and second-year students Brandt Doerr and John Heidenreich also faced team Minnesota in the preliminary rounds. Quinn, Brandt, and John also competed against the second team advancing to nationals, Wisconsin.

The UND Trial Team was coached Clay County Assistant Attorney Lori Conroy, '09, Beth Alvine, '14, associate at Fredrickson & Byron, P.A., and former Clay County Public Defender’s Office managing attorney, Joe Parise.
