Abstract
Assistant Professor Steven R. Morrison has been invited to join the committee for North Dakotans Against Measure 1. This committee has been formed to oppose Senate Bill 4009, the Personhood Amendment. SB 4009 states that "the inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and protected." SB 4009 is set to be on the November 2014 ballot.
In addition to joining the committee for North Dakotans Against Measure 1, Morrison recently participated as a panelist at the North Dakota Women's Network Workshop in Fargo. The panel, entitled Personhood 101, covered the history of personhood legislation and the potential impact of personhood legislation on the State of North Dakota. Professor Morrision provided a legal analysis of the amendment's potential effects.
