Abstract

University of North Dakota Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor of Psychology F. Richard Ferraro has been selected to be the editor-in-chief of an international journal on psychology.

Ferraro was offered the position with Current Psychology on June 28.

"We think that your previous experience with editing, your collaborative approach to journal editorship and your enthusiasm makes you the perfect match for the position," said Morgan Ryan Spring, an associate editor based in New York City, about Ferraro's selection.

Ferraro's contract with the publication would be for three years with the possibility of a three year extension.

Ferraro, who came to UND as an assistant professor in 1992, has experience heading up journals.

"This is my third academic journal in which I have been executive/editor-in-chief," he said. " From 2000-2005, I was executive editor for the Journal of Psychology and the Journal of General Psychology."

Ferraro's research interests include neuropsychology, visual word recognition and frontal lobe functioning, to name just a few. He also is director of UND's Experimental Ph.D. Program.

In 2005, Ferraro received the Thomas J. Clifford Faculty Achievement Award for Excellence in Research at UND.

Most recently, Ferraro was chosen to be a member of an American Psychological Association task force on the psychology of "weaponized" unmanned aerial systems.

Ferraro was named a Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor in 2007. The distinguished professorship is the highest faculty honor bestowed at UND.
