Abstract

The Recruitment/Retention of American Indians into Nursing (RAIN) Program will host an informational event from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Northern Plains Center for Behavioral Research.

The event gives area high school students an opportunity to learn about pursuing a career in Nursing. Please encourage any interested students to stop by for food and door prizes.

RAIN was established in 1990 to increase the number of nurses at the baccalaureate and masters levels prepared to provide health care to American Indian people. The Program aims to provide an accepting and supportive environment to promote a sense of belonging, academic advisement and support services and increase cultural awareness in faculty, staff and students. Through 2011, the RAIN Program has graduated 154 American Indian nurses with a bachelor of science in nursing, and 36 American Indian nurses witha master of science degree.
