Russian scholar to present talk on ‘Space Future in Science Fiction’ Monday at UND

Abstract

The University of North Dakota Department of Space Studies will host Larisa Mikhaylova for a presentation titled "Models of Space Future in Science Fiction 2000-2012."

Mikhaylova, a faculty member at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, will talk about whether international cooperation is essential for the humankind movement into the universe. This and related questions will be approached from perspective of comparative Russian and American film and literature research.

An editor, literary critic and translator, Mikhaylova teaches world literature and courses in science fiction. Her daughter, Iva Gerasimenko, is a UND Space Studies graduate student.
