Abstract
The January 2012 issue of the National Jurist focuses on the Best Schools for Public Service. UND Law School was ranked 16th in the category of Best Schools for State and Local Clerkships. This ranking is based on the percentage of graduates who are hired into judicial clerkship positions.
Applicants must supply references, transcripts, recommendations from professors and employers, resumes and a writing sample. Interested Judges interview candidates as well. Students are encouraged to focus on grades and talk to alumni and professors who have clerked to find out more about the jobs. Developing a strong writing sample is also an important step.
Students working in State and Local Clerkships are able to use the valuable experience to enhance their legal education and open the door to a great range of future opportunities.
