Annual UND Potato Bowl events begin with Thursday French fry feed

Abstract

The University of North Dakota's annual Potato Bowl festivities kick off on Thursday with a French fry feed in University Park and culminate Saturday evening with the football game between the Fighting Sioux and Black Hills State at the Alerus Center.

Here's a roundup of University-related events from Thursday through Saturday.

Thursday, Sept. 22

French Fry Feed, 4:30 p.m., University Park – World's largest French fry feed features food, drink, live music, inflatable games, meet the Fighting Sioux athletes, a potato picking contest for children, a French fry eating contest and a fireworks display after dark at the UND Memorial Stadium.

Friday, Sept. 23

Sioux Boosters luncheon, noon, Alerus Center – Have lunch and hear from UND's coaches and student athletes.

Night Life @ UND, 9 p.m., Memorial Union – Free late-night entertainment for UND students includes Potato Car Derby, potato-themed crafts, showings of the movie "Fast Five" and free food. The UND Wellness Center will feature Wii Games, potato-themed snacks, open gym, open rock wall climbing and open fitness equipment.

Saturday, Sept. 24

Jaycees Potato Bowl Parade, 10:30 a.m., downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks – The parade route starts behind the YMCA in Grand Forks, goes south to Demers Avenue and turns east over the river into East Grand Forks. It continues to Fourth Street NW and ends in the Riverwalk Centre parking lot. The UND Staff Senate invites University employees to march in the parade to support Minot's flood recovery efforts.

Tailgating Party, 2 p.m., Alerus Center – Football fans can enjoy the pre-game tailgating party in the Alerus Center parking lot.

Football game, 6 p.m., Alerus Center – UND takes on Black Hills State in the annual Potato Bowl football game.
