Abstract

An issue with Ticketmaster halted the sale of student hockey tickets to seniors and graduate students at the University of North Dakota.

"It was an issue with Ticketmaster's credit card processor," said Ralph Engelstad Arena ticket manager Heather Reardon. "We noticed the problem about ten minutes before 9:00 [p.m on Monday] and started working on it right away."

After postponing the sales for an hour, Reardon's team decided it was best to cancel the Monday sale all together. "At 9:03, we made the call," she said. "If things suddenly began to work [after the original time,] the system would have booted those who were already in line."

Another issue - students attempting to purchase tickets outside of their assigned date and time. "We had a few thousand people logon last night to purchase a few hundred tickets," Reardon said. "Traffic like that bogs down the system. Please make sure you logon only at your assigned times."

New dates to seniors, juniors; new time for sophomores

Because of the technical issue, the sale of student hockey tickets have been pushed back for most students.

Seniors/Grad Students: 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13th (new date) Juniors: 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14th (new date) Sophomores: 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14th (same date, new time) Freshmen: 9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15th (same time & date)

Keeping informed

Students should closely monitor their email as updates are sent out, Reardon said. In addition she stresses the importance of carefully reading the information sent out earlier in the week about the purchase process.

The REA ticket office facebook page provided the most up-to-date information on ticket sale status last night.

"We had to make the call to make sure things were fair," said Reardon. "No tickets were sold last night."

Icebreaker tournament

Tickets to the UND Icebreaker Tournament (October 7th and 8th) are available for $30 to students at the REA box office. Students can purchase multiple student tickets for friends (seating is assigned,) but a valid student ID is required on entry.
