Abstract

UND Marketing students land internships at Disney

Magic, imagination, and on-the-job experience are just a few of the many valuable things that UND College of Business Students Jordan Balvitsch and Mikayla Glatt will gain with their acceptance into one of the Disney Internship Programs.

Originally from Kenmare, ND, Jordan Balvitsch surprisingly isn’t a stranger to Disney Theme Parks. Visiting Disney for the first time at the age of 4, Balvitsch started his love for Disney, and later become an annual season pass holder traveling to Florida multiple times a year. Majoring in marketing and economics with minors in strategic communication and statistics, Balvitsch offers a variety of professional skills.

Beginning his first internship the first day after high school, Balvitsch has impressively held eight internships to include the North Dakota State Fair, AT&T, Verizon, Small Business Development Center, and an event internship for the state of North Dakota.

When looking for his next experience, Balvitsch messaged a Disney recruiter on LinkedIn and got a phone interview, followed by a Skype Interview, and then was selected to be flown down for an in-person interview for the Disney Professional Internship Program.

Following the interview, Balvitsch was offered an internship in the Corporate Alliances Department where he will work with partner sponsorships and branding. To best accommodate his coursework on campus he differed his summer placement and will begin his internship in January 2019. “It all came together with my dream company,” said Balvitsch who aspires to someday gain full-time employment with Disney.

New Adventure Inspired by Alumna

After hearing UND Alumna Jules Kotrba talk about her experience at Disney while visiting her class, Mikalya Glatt was also inspired to look into this opportunity. After applying and completing a web based interview process, Glatt was offered an internship with the Disney College Program in the merchandise area.

“I always had a love for Disney,” said Glatt, “I love their values and their customer service.” This will be Glatt’s first internship, which she will begin in August 2018. Glatt is a junior majoring in marketing and is originally from Bismarck, ND.

While working for the Disney College Program Glatt will have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and live in company-sponsored housing with other college interns. Glatt will also be able to utilize this experience to earn college credit and even continue taking classes online.

Balvitsch and Glatt will both be partaking in a world-class experience where they can build on their leadership skills and gain real-word experiences while working in the wonderful world of Disney.
