The UND CoBPA strengthens its recruiting relationship with Microsoft.
Passionate" is the word that University of North Dakota College of Business & Public Administration (CoBPA) alumnus, Kevin Newberger used to describe the CoBPA students he met when he visited campus this past fall representing Microsoft.
Newberger graduated from UND in May 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and International Business. A mere three weeks after graduation, he began his career in Inside sales at Microsoft. He is currently an Inside Opportunity Executive at Microsoft's Fargo campus, with whom the CoBPA has now forged a strong relationship.
Dean Margaret Williams and other faculty members from the CoBPA traveled to the company's Fargo campus this past July to visit with UND alumni and learn about their experience transitioning from UND to a full-time career with the company. This has opened more doors to connect UND CoBPA students to opportunities at Microsoft, starting with on-campus recruiting events.
The College's relationship with Microsoft has been wonderful thus far-- this fall, Newberger and other company representatives came to campus to facilitate recruitment activities aimed at CoBPA students. They presented for multiple marketing classes and held information sessions to help students better understand Microsoft's presence in Fargo as well as share advice from their career search experiences.
We were in their chairs a year ago, so we know exactly what they're going though," said Newberger.
Newberger started his job search in October of his senior year and received an offer from Microsoft in January, four months before graduation. He told students about the resources he leveraged within the CoBPA, such as the Pancratz Career Development Center, which helped him get where he is today.
Newberger says Microsoft plans to come back to campus this spring and that he looks forward to his future visits to UND as this partnership continues to grow.
It's cool to see that UND can make a name down here and I definitely hope to see more UND grads coming here," said Newberger.
