Relling elected vice president of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy

Abstract

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—David Relling, PT, PhD, associate professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was elected vice president of the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy on November 5 at the Annual Delegate Assembly meeting of the FSBPT in Columbus, Ohio.

The FSBPT is an organization of PT licensure boards in the United States, Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, and Virgin Islands with a common mission of protecting the public. The FSBPT has multiple areas of focus, including the development of the National Physical Therapy Examination that is a requirement for licensure of all graduates from PT and PT assistant programs.

“I am very honored and humbled to be elected vice president for FSBPT,” said Relling. “The members, staff, and volunteers of FSBPT are exceptional individuals, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to achieve the organizational mission.”

Relling completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota, completed a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, and earned a PhD in Physiology from the University of North Dakota. Relling teaches a number of courses in the areas of pathology, acute care, exercise physiology, and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. He has served on many committees within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and Department of Physical Therapy as well as professional organizations. Relling is currently a member of the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy. His research interests include exercise physiology, biomechanics, orthopedics, and educational methods.
