Abstract
The Tribal Judicial Institute at UND Law School has received an additional $500,000 from the Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, to assist Indian tribes nationwide in the development and enhancement of tribal justice systems under the Tribal Court Assistance Program. TJI has been involved in the TCAP program since 1998 and has served as the lead technical assistance provider for the Department of Justice since 2003, having worked with hundreds of Indian tribes to design or improve their tribal justice systems for the betterment of the their communities. Both Senators Heitkamp and Hoeven of North Dakota have complimented the Institute and the Law School for their commitment to justice in tribal communities.
