Abstract
College of Business & Public Administration offering comes in at No. 13 in Princeton Review’s Top 25 list; UNC-Chapel Hill is No. 1
The University of North Dakota College of Business & Public Administration’s (CoBPA) online Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program has been ranked one of the best by The Princeton Review , which released its first-ever compilations of best b-school MBA programs this week.
The list – which names the top 25 schools – is the first comprehensive ranking of online MBAs based on both surveys of administrators at the schools and of students attending the online MBA programs. UND CoBPA is ranked No. 13 on the list.
The Princeton Review chose the schools based on surveys of 80 institutions offering online MBAs and of about 2,000 students enrolled in the online MBAs, plus graduates of the online programs. Data points were weighted in more than 60 unique fields to tally the final list. Criteria focused on five areas: academics, selectivity, faculty, technical platforms and career outcomes.
“We are gratified that the hard work our faculty and staff have devoted to the students’ online learning experiences is being recognized by the Princeton Review,” said Margaret Williams, dean of UND’s CoBPA. “We are one of a few programs with a synchronous format and our students appreciate the opportunity to interact in a ‘classroom-like’ environment from wherever they happen to be located.”
The Princeton Review's website features advice for applicants to the online MBAs and in-depth profiles of the schools. In the UND CoBPA profile, the Princeton Review quotes students enrolled in its online MBA program. Here is a sample of what they said, “the accounting, finance, and management classes in the UND MBA program are [its] greatest strength and have given me additional tools to incorporate into my career.”
Indeed, these areas draw high regard from many UND students, as do skills built in human resources and marketing. Students also report strong short-term and very strong long-term optimism about the degree’s positive impact on the future of their careers, as well as high general satisfaction with their decision to invest in a UND CoBPA MBA.
"We strongly recommend the University of North Dakota as an outstanding choice for anyone considering an online MBA," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review senior VP/publisher. "Its program is exceptionally strong both academically and in the many ways it maximizes technology that enables students to interact with and learn from its superlative faculty and students all over the world."
The Princeton Review has published an annual Best Business Schools guide for 20 years, and, since 2005 included 11 categories of b-school ranking lists (largely based on student surveys) in that publication.
The company is also known for its annual rankings of graduate and undergraduate schools offering the best programs for entrepreneurship studies, and its annual rankings of colleges in dozens of categories it reports in its books, The Best 379 Colleges , and Colleges That Pay You Back .
