Abstract

Oral history interview with Don Loeslie from Warren, Minnesota, conducted on September 12, 2025. The interview was led by Curt Hanson from the Elwyn B. Robinson Department of Special Collections at the Chester Fritz Library, University of North Dakota. In addition to being a lifelong farmer, Loeslie has been actively involved in and has led several national agricultural organizations, including the National Association of Wheat Growers.

In this second of three interviews, Loeslie discusses his collaboration with numerous government officials at local, state, national, and international levels. This includes interactions with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture John Block, U.S. Vice President George H.W. Bush, Senator Bob Dole, Senator Dave Durenberger, and Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, among others. The interview also addresses food security issues in the war-torn Middle East and Ukraine.
