This letter dated August 8, 1949, from United States (US) Senator William Langer to Mrs. W. J. Chapin of Hankinson, North Dakota, refers to Chapin's recent letter of support for US Senate Joint Resolution 11.

Langer thanks Chapin for her letter and writes that he is sending her, under separate cover, a copy of the Congressional Record of July 6, "which outlines the Senate Amendments to the companion measure, US House Joint Resolution 33." He further explains that the US House of Representatives "disagreed with the [US] Senate amendments and, consequently, requested a Conference," naming the conferees who were appointed to reconcile the disagreement.

Langer pledges to secure early enactment of the legislation and invites Chapin to share suggestions for how he may be of further assistance.
