Additional Information
David Madzo was born in North Dakota, where he was raised in Medora. In the late 1970s, he entered UND’s graduate program in visuals arts and earned his MFA. During Matzo's time at the University of North Dakota, he was a graduate teaching assistant. Afterwards, he moved to the Twin Cities and recently relocated back to his home state.
The theme of Madzo’s painting, which includes strange-looking figures, perhaps relates to the artist’s professed interest in myths and archetypes. The style of Madzo’s painting appears associated with contemporary Neo-Expressionist trends of the late 1970s.
