Swedish-born Helge E. Ederstrom was a professor of physiology and pharmacology in UND’s School of Medicine from 1952 to 1977. Nationally recognized for research in vascular medicine and surgery, Ederstrom also enjoyed painting as leisure activity.
Referring to himself as a "Sunday" painter, Ederstrom favored landscape subjects. He was prolific as an artist and his works can be seen in various buildings on campus.
