Artist Bio
Born in Ondo, Nigeria, Yisa Akinbolaji has resided in Winnipeg, Canada, since 1997. Before immigrating to Canada, he was well-known as an artist in Nigeria. In 2009, Akinbolaji received an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of North Dakota.

Nigerian-born Canadian artist Yisa Akinbolaji is often preoccupied with subjects involving diversity within urban environments. Akinbolaji's piece We Are All Able, which portrays a man in a wheelchair with a guitar, reminds us that all individuals, regardless of physical health status, share the need for the interpersonal and community relationships and acceptance.
