Abstract
Oral history interview with Peter Retterath of the 803rd Engineer Battalion, U.S. Army, during the Second World War. Retterath was captured by the Japanese Army following their invasion after Pearl Harbor. He survived the Bataan Death March and was imprisoned at the POW camp in Cabanatuan, Philippines. He was liberated by the U.S. Army in January 1945.
Peter N. Retterath was born in Lidgerwood, North Dakota, on 19 January 1916. He died on 3 September 2004 and is buried at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
