Description
The Northern Packing Company building located at 2500 Mill Road, north of Grand Forks was founded by several business leaders as a way to benefit area farmers.
"Grand Forks businessmen organized the Northern Packing Company in 1919. This 1927 photograph records the plant in it's heyday. The Depression, however, brought mortgage foreclosure, and in 1935 Armour and Company bought the plant. In the early 1970s the Pillsbury Company took over the building. Then in 1989 Pillsbury closed its door and R.D.O. Foods (R.D. Offutt Company) opened them for one last time. R.D.O. Foods was in the building from 1990 - 2008.
