From James Carley's notes: Gray stoneware jar, salt glaze, with 4 swaths of blue decorations. Impressed 2 with 3 dots over it on shoulder. Nice tooling at neck. Some sagging in the fire. Brown slip inside, 13" high. These 2 pots found in Bluefield, WV. Had belonged to the Jones family in Ashland (near Richmond) VA. See: Rice and Stout, the Shenandoah Pottery. These are possibly by Samuel Bell. Stoneware jar 8" high. Dark gray with 3 swaths of decoration. There are 2 streaks of orange running the full length. See image for additional details.
