From James Carley's notes: Beautiful stoneware jar, 15" high, with strap handles placed horizontally on shoulders, partially free. Three incised lines below neck. Medium brown glaze except on base. Salt. Firing craters. The pot is cracked. See: Webster p. 165 Paul Cushman pot. Purchased at the old school house near Sylva N.C. The salesman on duty didn't know the provenance.
