Additional Information

From James Carley's notes: Redware bowl 7 1/4 dia. With a wide flat rim. The inside is covered with white slip, sponged with brown, with a transparent gloss lead glaze. Areas of slip and glaze show on the crude exterior. The glaze is crackled & in the bottom very finely crazed. There is a penciled number on the underside, C 4075. Purchased Indianapolis from a dealer who got it in the Boston area & attributes it to Newburtyport. Possibly Newburyport, Mass. Daniel Bayley Potter 1764-99.
