Description

Ethel Halcrow portrays Sakakawea for the Pageant of the Northwest in 1914. A canoe lies along the bank of the English Coulee in the background. The Pageant of the Northwest was written by eighteen students under the supervision of Orin G. Libby and Fredrick Koch. The pageant employed several students and a few Native American extras to portray the four successive stages of the exploration of the Northwest.
