Abstract

This document from 1983 was a year end report for the Grafton State School and the San Haven State HospitalThis document from 1983 is a year-end report for Grafton State School and San Haven State Hospital. The sections pertaining to Grafton are generally more detailed than those for San Haven. Throughout the document, multiple sections are underlined for emphasis.

The report presents important statistics, such as placements, staff-to-resident ratios, staff vacancies, and the status of services provided. Two summaries of services are presented in the form of emails. Placements are categorized by regions, along with a section for unsuccessful placements. The patient-to-staff ratios are organized by unit, with separate rows for different shifts. The graph distinguishes between direct-care employees and professional staff, noting that no shifts incorporate both categories.

The medical care section discusses the following topics: new staff members in this area, the usage of psychotropic drugs, patient deaths, and dental care. The educational programs vary between the two facilities; for Grafton, several different education classes and therapies are mentioned, while San Haven, serving an older population, focuses more on maintaining skills and leisure activities.

Finally, the last section addresses future plans for building modifications.. Sections on Grafton tend to be more detailed than San Haven. Throughout the document multiple sections have been underlined. The report details important statistics such as placements, ratios of staff to residents, staff vacancies, and the status of services provided. Two of the summaries of services are in the form of emails. The placements are labeled in regions as well as having a section for unsuccessful placements. Patient to staff ratios are organized by unit, with each unit having a row for different shifts. The graph differentiates between direct-care employees and professional staff, even though no shifts have both. The medical care goes over new staff in that area, the use of psychotropic drugs, deaths, and dental care. Education depends on which facility, at Grafton it mentions several different education classes and therapies, whereas with San Haven due to it's nature being typically older the classes more focus on maintaining skills and leisure. The last section deals with the future plans and the buildings being modified.
