Artist Bio
John Dowell was born in 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dowell studied at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University where he graduated with honors and a BFA degree in printmaking in 1963, and the University of Washington Seattle where he received his MFA in printmaking in 1966. He is best known for his lithography, etching, photography and painting. John Dowell has work in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian International Art Program, and many more.
