Additional Information
The Department of Art and Design at UND has long been collecting artworks by Native-American artists. Most of these artworks were made by graduates of the University’s undergraduate and graduate visual arts programs. The works produced by these students have tended to reflect stylistic characteristics of the broader contemporary art world, rather than traditional Native-American qualities. Recently, however, the department has added several traditional and historical Native-American pieces to its collection, among them beaded buckskin moccasins.
