Art Across the Ages, A Selection of Treasured Works
Art Across the Ages features an exciting historical overview of works from the University’s permanent collections. Showcased are a broad range of art objects dating from antiquity through the early twenty-first century—including pieces from ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to later artworks by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Mary Cassatt, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali, Helen Frankenthaler, Faith Ringgold, Audrey Flack and other renowned artists. Native American art is also featured.
This array of artworks encourages the viewer to explore the importance of art in human life throughout history. Moreover, the show reveals the growth of UND’s art collections in recent years through donations as well as purchases (with privately donated funds generously provided by the Myers Foundations). Newly accessioned artworks have enriched the educational experience of the University’s students, while also providing the broader public with opportunities to see important art not otherwise often on view in the Grand Forks region.
