Description
In this audiovisual recording from Friday, March 23, 2018, as part of the 49th Annual UND Writers Conference: “Truth & Lies,” Lauren Markham reads excerpts from her book The Far Away Brothers: Two Young Migrants and the Making of an American Life. Markham also responds to audience questions about how the prejudice towards immigrants is changing, how to combat incorrect narratives about why migration is happening, whether exclave, homogenous communities of immigrants help or hurt the integration of immigrants into American society, if the beneficiary of racism has changed overtime like the scapegoat has, what kind of roadblocks her own students encounter in trying to learn English, and other questions about specific aspects of the book.
Introduced by Dr. Marcus Weaver-Hightower, Department of Educational Foundations & Research.
