Description
In this audiovisual recording from April 1, 2009, as part of the 40th Annual UND Writers Conference: “Wit,” Marco Candida, Karen Russell, Jacqueline Osherow, and Greg Williamson participate in a panel called “But Seriously.” The panelists discuss a number of topics and respond to various questions, including whether or not they think that they write with “wit,” which authors they think are funny/witty, and who influence their work. The panelists also discuss whether they think that there is any topic too serious to write about in a humorous fashion or whether certain inherently serious subjects need wit to be palatable, the craft of writing, whether certain forms of poetry are inherently “witty,” and other topics.
Moderated by Dr. Marcus Weaver-Hightower, Department of Education.
Translations provided by Elizabeth Harris, Department of English.
