In this audiovisual recording from Friday, March 22, 2002, as part of the 33rd Annual UND Writers Conference: “Explorations," Bill Holm, David Treuer, and Eddy Harris participate in a panel called “As Others See Us.” The panelists discuss perceptions of race and culture on the level of the regional and international, writing outside of one's experience, linguistic otherness, generating characters out of the other, the function of place in their writing, invention in fiction, the relationship between writers and readers, and their advice to the audience about mediating otherness.
