In this audiovisual recording from Tuesday, March 20, 1990, as part of the 21st Annual UND Writers Conference: “The Literature of Immigration,” James J. McAuley, Lore Segal, and Solvig Zempel participate in a panel called “Leaving Home.” The panelists open by reading pieces they prepared for the panel, including a poem by McAuley titled “This is Home." The panelists then discuss their homelands, immigration of refugees, the linguistic and cultural issues of parenting for refugees, and their sense of place in literature.
