In this audiovisual recording from Friday, March 25, 1988, as part of the 19th Annual UND Writers Conference: “Parent & Child,” Adam Hochschild, Patrick Hemingway, and W.D. Snodgrass participate in a panel called “Fathers and Sons.” The panelists discuss the literary tradition and historical power of father and son relationships, their writing about their fathers, the strength of the father's role in a family, writing about sibling relationships, Adolf Hitler and his father's relationship, and the writers' relationships with their fathers. Snodgrass reads passages from "The House of Snodgrass" and "Grandfathers and Sons" from Afterimages and the poem “The Poet Mocked by Hysterical Academics.”
